EU Coffee Morning: Strengthening Democracy and the Rule of Law in the EU

We are pleased to invite you to European Coffee Morning – a series of informal and inspiring meetings where we explore current EU topics over a cup of coffee.

Meet Lennart Luenemann og Casper de Boer from the European Commission's Directorate General on Justice and Consumers (DG JUST) for a debate on Democracy, the Rule of Law, and Integrity in the EU. 

Democracy and the rule of law are the foundations on which the European Union is built. Without trust in independent institutions, courts and common rules, the Single Market cannot function. And without strong democratic foundations, Europe cannot be strong or independent. That is why the European Commission has made protecting our core values from internal erosion and external threats a central priority.

This EU Coffee Morning will highlight the EU’s key policies and tools in this area. In particular, it will cover the annual Rule of Law Report, the European Democracy Shield and the EU’s anti-corruption framework.
